Heading : Goldsmiths and Silversmiths company inkwell Date : Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1890 John Grinsell and Sons - retailed in London by the Golsmiths and Silversmiths Company. Period : Victoria Origin : Birmingham, England Decoration : Silver cased inkwell with internal well as well as additional glass lining. The external silver is gadrooned and reeded with the cover containing a stylised monogram dated 1891, possibly RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveryors). The glass lining has a star cut base. Size : Height 5.3cm, base diameter 11.5cm Condition : Excellent, no dings, chip, or cracks. Restoration : None Weight : 441 grams

This exceptional antique George V sterling silver and glass matchstriker has a globular form to a circular shaped well. The surface of the glass body is embellished with a serrated texture which composes a match striker. The glass body surmounts an impressive circular shaped dished well, featuring with a raised rounded border with paralleling applied moulded decoration to the rim. This exceptional example of antique silverware is fitted with an oakwood insert to the underside of the base; this insert indicates the high quality of the piece. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver sugar caster has a baluster shaped form onto a circular stepped spreading domed foot. The lower portion of this sugar caster is embellished with embossed convex batwing decoration in a swirl design.
