Italian Sterling Silver Triple Opening Biscuit Box

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive, contemporary Italian sterling silver triple opening biscuit box; an addition to our silver teaware collection. This exceptional contemporary Italian sterling silver biscuit box has a rounded triangular, shell shaped body supported by three hoof feet, all in the Classic English Victorian style. The sterling silver frame of this triple opening box is fitted with impressive cast and applied putto characters surmounting scrolling leaf decorated supports. The frame of the box is embellished with applied tied reed decoration accented with elevating scrolling leaf designs and terminating with an exceptional putto decorated finial, holding in his hand a glass. This contemporary biscuit box retains the original three hinged compartments, each fitted with a hallmarked mystical fish/dolphin decorated handle to facilitate opening. The anterior surface of each compartment is embellished with broad embossed convex flutes ornamented with chased shell designs and textures to the upper portion. The three compartments open to reveal three hinged, pierced decorated grilles, securing with hallmarked sprung catches; these grilles restrain the contents when the box is open and closed. The box is supported by three impressive ram's hoof decorated feet ornamented with chased decoration replicating the natural fur. Condition: This contemporary silver biscuit box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The Italian hallmarks struck to each handle, catch, hinge and cover, in addition to the base are all very clear.
