Newcastle Sterling Silver Old English Feather Edge Pattern Table Spoons

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Georgian Newcastle sterling silver Old English Feather Edge pattern table spoons; an addition to our silver flatware collection. These exceptional antique Georgian Newcastle sterling silver table spoons have been crafted in the Old English Feather Edge pattern. The anterior surface of each spoon stem and handle is encompassed with feather edge decoration and embellished to the terminal with a flat engraved scrolling leaf design. The handle terminal incorporates the contemporary bright cut engraved initials 'MAF'. The reverse of these Georgian spoons are plain and unembellished, with single drop heels. These exceptional Newcastle silver spoons were crafted by William Stalker & John Mitchison in 1774; it can be determined due to the hallmarking system this piece was one of the first items of silver created using this maker's mark. Condition These antique silver table spoons are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The flat engraved and bright cut engraved crests are very crisp in keeping with age Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each handle are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of Georgian silverware. Dimensions Length 22.2cm/8.7". Length of handle 14.1cm/5.6". Length of bowl 8.1cm/3.2".
