Pair of Victorian Adam Style Four-Light Silver Candelabra

About

A fine pair of English neoclassical style candelabra by Hawkworth, Eyre & Co, these hall marked silver candlesticks have all the quality of 18th century originals and are in excellent condition. The bases and arms are detachable so they may also be used without the branches. They are fully marked for Sheffield 1879-1880 and of a pattern with swags, ram’s heads and stylized acanthus that is still much in demand. The base of each is engraved with two crests one of which is surmounted by a six prong coronet. Although the bases are loaded and so not meaningfully weighable they are very solidly made, not at all thin and with light wear commensurate with age.
