Piault rare French sterling silver and mother-of-pearl table knife set of 54 pieces with box. Head of Minerve 1 st titre on the blades of dessert knives 18-piece for 950/1000 French sterling silver guarantee. A rare and exceptional service 54 knives by the Jules Piault. Complete cutlery set comprised of three-piece place settings for 18, comprised of dinner, entremet and dessert knives. The blades of the dessert knives are sterling silver. The blades of dinner and entremet are steel and are marked "Hamel à Elbeuf, 37 rue de la Barrière". The set is presented in its original box. No monograms. Napoleon III period. Undoubtedly collectibles !! The most prestigious French cutler 19th century: Jules Piault Master cutler of King Louis Philippe and Emperor Napoleon III. 43 Boulevard de Sébastopol - Paris. He exhibited and received awards at the Universal Exhibitions of London in 1862, and Paris in 1867. He also won gold medals in th Exhibitions of 1879 in Sydney, and 1880 in Melbourne, and honorable diploma 1883 in Amsterdam. Measures : 18 dinner knives 9"5 ( 24.1 cm ). 18 dessert knives 7"8 ( 19.8 cm ). 18 entremet knives 7"9 ( 20.1 cm ). Total weight with original box : 3400 grams. The condition is very good for this age. Micro-scratches from normal use. No loss or repairs. Few age split, on the surface of the pearl, very discreet, it does not affect the beauty, nor the strength of this fabulous full service. Overall with more than a hundred and fifty years of age, this set looks to have hardly been used. A master cutler made a complete cleaning & polishing.
