The shaped blade is embellished with impressive, finely pierced and engraved scrolling branch ornamentation segmented with simplified leaf festoon style borders. The centre of the blade is further ornamented with a heron perched on a branch, with a fish in its upturned beak. The cast and applied handle is embellished with impressive heart shaped bolster, encompassed with gadroon ornamentation.     A magnificent, fine and impressive, rare antique Scottish sterling silver gilt punch/ soup ladle; an addition to our silver cutlery collection This magnificent William IV sterling silver punch ladle has been hand forged in a rare and unusual design. The handle of the punch/soup ladle has been realistically modelled in the form of a horse's head, emanating from an impressive scrolling enveloping leaf design. The tapering stem is embellished with the contemporary engraved presentation inscription 'Presented to A. C. Renton by his father on his birth day, 3rd May 1833'. The reverse of this impressive example of antique silverware features an exceptional honeysuckle style heel to the shell shaped bowl. The anterior and reverse surface of each piece is plain and unembellished; the heel of each piece is embellished with a circular rivet. The bowl of the serving fork incorporates five-shaped tines. These exceptional examples of silver flatware are fitted with impressive green colored cut glass handles with a hobnail style ornamentation to the bulbous handpiece. The spoon has a plain rounded bowl and the fork has six tines. The anterior surface of each silver server is embellished with the contemporary engraved crest of an eagle rising, in its beak an escutcheon pendent by a ribbon, thereon a hank of cotton. The crest is encompassed with a garter bearing the motto 'Multa tuli fecique' - I have borne and done many things*. The reverse surface of the serving fork and spoon incorporates a pip to the terminal, in addition to a rounded heel to the bowl/drop.
