Sterling Silver Presentation Cup, Antique Victorian

About the Item

A fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver presentation cup; an addition to our presentation silverware collection. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver presentation cup has a Campania shaped form to a knopped pedestal and spreading domed foot. The plain body of the cup is embellished to one side with a large chased decorated laurel and oak branch design conjoined with a ribbon bow. The lower portion of the body is encircled with embossed convex fluted decoration. The upper rim of the waisted body is embellished with an applied bead decorated border. The cup is fitted with two fine and impressive scrolling ribbed handles ornamented with a collared leaf design to the upper terminal. The knops to the pedestal are encircled with applied bead decoration above a swept concave fluted decorated foot. This fine example of Victorian silverware is fitted to a circular ebonized wood plinth, encircled with a vacant silver inscription band; the band may be engraved with a personal inscription if so desired. This impressive cup is fitted with an internal threaded dowel pin which provides a secure and concealed screw fit attachment to the plinth. Dimensions: Height on plinth: 31.2 cm/12.3". Height of cup: 26 cm/10.2". Length across handles: 23 cm/9.1". Diameter of rim: 12.5 cm/4.9". Diameter of plinth: 15.2 cm/6". Weight: 19.2 troy ounces/596g. Maker: S. Blanckensee & Sons Ltd. This antique presentation cup is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The chased and embossed decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the cup are all very clear.
