An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Dutch silver biscuit box; an addition to the ornamental silverware collection.
This exceptional antique Dutch silver biscuit box has circular form.
The body of the box is plain and encompassed with a band of applied reed decoration to the lower rim.
This biscuit box retains the original hallmarked hinged cover ornamented with further applied reed decoration to the upper and lower rims.
The hallmarks struck to this impressive Dutch silver biscuit box include:
Maker's mark: ICF (untraced)
Duty mark: Minerva head, C (The Hague)
Tax mark: Axe/hatchet mark
Silver quality/purity mark: Crowned lion rampant .934 (934/1000)
