19th Century silver plated decorative bun warmer
About the Item
19th century silver plated decorative bun warmer circa 1890.
We have seen many descriptions and purposes for this piece of late victorian tableware.
Scallop shaped, decorative scroll work which forms the handle and feet. Piece opens to reveal a pierced grill each side, which can lift up and be fixed into place if desired. Stamped on the grill's 'ep' with further generic hallmarks, which was typical for it to pass a solid silver on the dinner table. Further stamped on the underside patent number 11.350.
No real evidence of it every being used much. Plate in good condition, couple of very minor surface marks.
