You're about to discover something extraordinary!
Try to imagine the Earth at the time of the dinosaurs, during the Jurassic period, 150-200 million years ago. It’s hard to move from measuring time in years to do it in millions of years but have in mind that our planet was formed 4.000 million years ago and that the first dinosaurs lived 200 million years ago. Soon after, a seashell called Nerinea appeared. Nerinea is an extinct genus of fossil sea snails which inhabited the Earth during the Mesozoic Age, between the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, between 170 and 100 million years ago. In Zucaina, an inland town in the province of Castellón (Spain), there is a deposit with an incredible concentration of Nerineas fossils. This area was at one time submerged under a shallow sea in what would end up being the Iberian Peninsula. It is a seabed from the Jurassic period (dated between 163 and 152 million years) which sedimented during millions of years, trapping in its interior an exceptional concentration of Nerineas fossils. This makes this quarry a unique place in the world.

Nerinea
Culture Sculpted. Aina's natural stone collection is a 150 million years old testimony of nature. Nature, with its immeasurable beauty, sometimes gives us jewels in the form of natural stone. It is a legacy so that history does not fall into oblivion and reminds us of the beauty of our roots. A past that projects future. Nerinea is an extinct genus of fossil sea snails which inhabited the Earth during the Jurassic period, between 160 and 150 million years ago. In Zucaina, an inland town in the province of Castellón (Spain), located at 800 meters above sea level and 60 km away from the coast, there is a deposit with an amazing concentration of nerinea fossils. Unique and exclusive. Jurassic Marble is a unique product that brings an elegant raw aesthetic to the most exclusive architectural and interior design projects. Aina offers two collections of products: - Living Collection, objects made in Jurassic Marble, its extraordinary particularity lies in the concentration of nerineas fossils in each strata. - Unique Collection, has the most unique and unrepeatable pieces. Each piece is different from the rest, making them exclusive and scarce, keeping inside the footprint of a 150 million years old life. The material is found on the surface, where natural erosion has molded the particular relief that pronounces its beauty, leaving the nerinea fossils exposed in relieve, making possible the experience of feeling fossils of creatures which lived 150 million years ago.
Aina can manufacture the support in any size and in any finish, the Designer chose the raw finish because it leaves the Nerineas fossils slightly in relief. Other available finishes are polished, honed or leather.

- Aina Contemporary Jurassic Fossil Marble Flow Sink, Living CollectionBy Miguel HerranzLocated in ESFlow sink sculpted from a solid piece of Jurassic Marble, with Nerineas fossils, in raw finish. Designed by Miguel Herranz and manufactured by NERINEA in our factory located in Valencia (Spain). Flow is a sculptural piece with gently, harmoniously flowing surfaces that encounter each other in fascinating ways, emphasizing the sink’s practical features and reflecting light to beautiful effect. The unusual design gives the sink a graceful lightweight appearance while supplying plenty of countertop space. In addition, the slightly recessed base allows the sink to rest on countertops that are only 35 cm deep, making it an ideal solution for small spaces. What is particularly interesting is how the sink’s appearance shifts depending on the vantage point, although it always stays true to its sculptural character. The fact that one area is elevated creates a small hollow that provides a practical solution for leaving small objects, as well as conveying an impression of lightness. The Designer chose the raw finish because it leaves the Nerineas fossils slightly in relief, but Aina can produce the sink in any finish.
