Antique Gorham Mfg. Co. Lily of the Valley Sterling Silver Berry Spoon. An exceptionally beautiful design shows to full advantage on this 11” long Berry server.
It has a large, fluted scalloped gilt bowl with a central Lily of the Valley ‘V’. The back of handle is plain with stampings of the Gorham lion, anchor, G, STERLING and Pat. 70. There is a monogram on the reverse side. Excellent vintage condition… slight loss of gold wash on the blade commensurate with daily wear or use. Late 19th Century.
Gorham's Lily of the Valley is one of that company's earliest line patterns. It was patented in 1870, as indicated by the stamp on this piece. A popular design since its inception, it remains a favorite among collectors.
