About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver dessert service for six persons made by Francis Higgins II; an addition to our canteen of cutlery collection
This exceptional antique Victorian English sterling silver dessert service for six persons consists of six knives and eleven spoons.
Each piece of this impressive Francis Higgins flatware set has been crafted in a highly desirable ornate pattern incorporating impressive three-dimensional barley twist decorated handles.
Each handle incorporates floral decoration and matte textures, in addition to a strapwork influenced vacant cartouche to the terminal.
The sterling silver rounded blade of each dessert knife is ornamented with an impressive arrow design accented with scrolling leaf decoration.
The original hallmarked knife handles are filled, as to be expected.
Each spoon bears a matte organic design to the heel of the hallmarked bowl.
This antique silver cutlery is supplied in felt rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduces tarnishing.
This exceptional service for six persons, crafted by the renowned London silversmith Francis Higgins II, benefits from five additional dessert spoons.
Condition
This antique Francis Higgins flatware set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The ornamentation to each handle is very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each knife blade and spoon bowl, in addition to the ferrule of each knife handle, are all very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian silverware.
