Art Deco Silver Plate and Crystal Oil and Vinegar Cruet Set by Quist, 1930s

About the Item

This lovely 1930s Art Deco modernist tableware serving set designed by Quist, Germany, features a geometric base built in silver plate metal with a tall handle finished by a metal ball finial. Two cut crystal bottles or containers for oil and vinegar with a geometric shape and a fan neck design. Legal hallmark stamping underside: Quist. One of the crystal bottles is engraved "Germany." The set is in good condition, with minor wear on the metal base, but it does not significantly affect the overall appearance. Measurements: 4.32 in wide (11 cm) x 3.75 in deep (9.5 cm) x 8.69 in high (22 cm). Note: Quist Metallwaarenfabrik originated from the plant founded in 1866 by Jakob Swiss Jr. In 1872, the company modified its name to "Actien Plaqué." Among the principal shareholders was Wilhelm Friedrich Quist (1831-1903), who entered the company's capital around 1890. The firm became F.W. Quist Metallwaarenfabrik, and the Quist family continued to manage the firm until 1951. The factory closed in 1981 due to bankruptcy.
