Repousse by Kirk Sterling Silver Flatware Set Service 80 pcs Dinner Old Early

About the Item

In 1828, the Baltimore firm Kirk, introduced the Repousse pattern. This pattern was named after the art of repoussé (the process of embossing metal from the back by hammering), originally used in European silversmithing. The Repousse pattern features an intricate floral design along its entire stem and handle. Early Dinner Size Repousse by Kirk Sterling Silver Flatware set - 80 pieces. This set includes: 12 Dinner Size Knives, with early all-around design handles, 9 7/8" 12 Dinner Size Forks, 7 3/4" 12 Salad Forks, 6 1/4" 12 Teaspoons, 5 3/4" (all with EH mark for extra heavy weight) 12 Bouillon Soup Spoons, 5 1/4" 12 Demitasse Spoons, 4 1/4" 1 Berry Spoon, ovoid, 9 1/2" 2 Serving Spoons, 8 1/4" 1 Cold Meat Fork, 8 3/8" 1 Cake Server w/stainless blade, 10" 1 Steak Carving Set, 2-pc, with all around design handles, 10" & 8 3/4" 1 Sugar Tong, 5" Includes bonus brand new storage chest - styles vary. Excellent condition, with no monograms. Hallmarks vary. Most pieces bear 925/1000 mark, 100+ years old. Finely detailed repousse design. Some of the hallmarks are slightly worn due to age. The dinner knives have no seam on the sides, like today's knives, which have 2 seams that are not repoussed and are plain and thinner silver on the seams. These dinner knives are wonderfully impressive with all-around repousse design. The knives have slightly varying handle weights due to the cement inside the handles. This set will be lightly professionally polished and sealed in individual plastic sleeves prior to shipping. Absolutely stunning! 100% Satisfaction guaranteed!
