Silver Plated Art Deco Champagne Bucket / Wine Cooler, Lyford Cay Club Bahamas

About the Item

Silvered Mappin & Webb cooler, possibly used by JFK or Frank Sinatra. If you are looking for an antique Art Deco cooler for your home or restaurant then this stylish specimen with a unique provenance could be yours to use and enjoy soon. We have owned and sold an Art Deco era cooler before, but never one with such a unique provenance. This incredibly stylish, geometrical design and silver plated brass or bronze one comes with the logo of one of the most luxurious holiday resorts on the planet. The Lyford Cay Club in the Bahamas has an incredibly rich history and some of the most well known people that ever lived have stayed there. Since this Art Deco bucket was all-handcrafted in the thirties and specifically made for the Lyford Cay Club it may have served drinks to many more 'celebs' that we all know. Especially when it was used there for a few decades. We have no idea how this timeless antique made it to the Netherlands, but we certainly were thrilled to be able to purchase it. Apart from minor superficial imperfections (consistent with age and use) and the top not being perfectly circular anymore, this attractive and useful Art Deco cooler with its unique history is in superb condition and it certainly is great value for money. Especially when taking into account that perfect packing and worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days are complimentary. Maximum height x diameter: 11 x 8.1 inches. Height without the handles: 9.45 inches. Diameter opening on top: 7.5 inches. Base diameter: 5.9 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).

  • Enormous and Great Condition Antique Bronze Morter and Pestle w. Satyr Sculpture
    Located in Lisse, NL
Impressive, sculptural and highly decorative, 19th century morter. This near bucket-size morter is the largest and heaviest we have seen and owned to date and this wonderful antique is in excellent condition. Today they are mostly known for use in the kitchen, but in 19th century Europe these were mostly used by doctors, pharmacists and chemists for grinding and mixing substances into powders, for medicinal purposes. This all handcrafted eye catcher comes with a satyr (or sater) sculpture on the front and back and the handles are like gargoyles or grotesk busts. To give you a better idea of its large size we have placed a regular size antique morter next to it. This largest ever morter must have been owned and used by one very successful medicine making business, because with this giant morter one could produce a whole lot in one go. This rare and stunning morter will make great decoration (or educational material) in a doctor's office, in a pharmacy or any other place where medicine and healing are the main focus of attention. No matter where you decide to have this antique on display, it will never fail to impress. Mind you, our fair price for this handcrafted, solid bronze, rare, impressive, stylish and meaningful antique even includes perfect packing and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 days. Maximum height x diameter 8.1 x 10.2 inches. Length of the extra large pestle...
