Ancient Egyptian Bronze Statue of Amun, 664 BC

About

A large bronze figure of the Great Theban King of the Gods, Amun. Dating to Egypt's Late Period, circa 664-332 BC. Solid cast, the god depicted striding forward on his left leg, wearing a false beard, conical headdress and pleated kilt, his right arm held by his side, his left raised, once gripping a sceptre. Measures: Height 8 1/2 or 11 inches on base. Provenance: From the collection of a Parisian Doctor, acquired at Hôtel Drouot in the late 1960's - early 1970s. With French cultural property passport.
