Carousel boat by Atelier L' Autopède Belgium.
This merry-go-round hand-made metal boat is the first model of the first serie boats made by L' Autopède in 1948: it has a beautiful metal mast -where the name of the boat is given in - an ornament on the prow of the boat, not yet a window or wheel covers as these details came only later at the next models.
From this type of model were only made like 5 pieces, so a very rare model and piece !
None of these 5 were the same and have different details, as Karel was still experimenting with making the carousel boats.
In total, atelier L' autopede did make like 75 boats of this style in different versions.
This funfair boat is a 4-seat ride for children with 2 wooden steering wheels in front.
As this child's boat dates from 1948, you can imagine it did have repainting during the years.
This older paint restoration is still in beautiful condition, but does have some traces and losses in the meantime and some old quickly retouches by the carousel owner. He had no time to loose, to use the boat again to please the children and to gain his money.
