Mid 20thcentury papier Mache Paris theatre mask of sleepy head A quirky example of an early to mid-20th century hand crafted papier Mache theatre mask, in the form of a sleepy head old man figure. Made from sections of papier Mache and over painted detail by hand. Recently uncovered from a private collector in Le Mans, France. Size of inches: H 15” x W 8” x D 12” Completely solid in structure and form, with natural wear and patination across all surfaces due to age and use. This item has been re-painted over time and shows visible wear and elements of damage in the form of cracked painted surface, flaked aged paint revealing underneath material, the inside has some tape in place to hold it together, but this is firm and not loss. The cracks are in the painted surface as shown and the frayed edges are only cosmetic and not structural in anyway, this item is firm in form and has many years left in it as a decorative item. Its strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment upon purchase.
