19th Century Multi-Figure Tlingit Totem
About the Item
Complex Multifigure Tlingit Totem Pole from Sitka, Alaska. This larger red cedar model totem pole was carved by a Tlingit artist from Sitka, Alaska. The pole is unusually complex for a Tlingit pole and features seven interlocking figures. The pole is intricately carved, although the figures in the center may not be completely finished. Even so, it makes a fascinating display piece and allows the viewer to see the carver’s process. This pole comes directly from the family whose ancestors have passed it down for four generations. 25"
Period: 19th century
Origin: Sitka, Alaska
Size: 25" H
