About the Item
A fine example attributed to master Nuu-chah-nulth carver Ray Williams, circa 1960s. Ray Williams was the son of famed carver Sam Williams who started carving for the Ye Olde Curiosity shop in Seattle, WA in the early 1900s. This example features all the complex figures that are known in Ray's work. Painted in great old and original pigments of red, black, white and green this totem is bold and striking; an especially fine example of Ray’s work. The totem stands and 9.25" H with a 8.25" wingspan and is in excellent condition for its age. A great museum quality example of an early famous carver.
