About the Item

Native brain tanned painted, quilled and beaded buffalo calf hide with four quilled rosettes each having four drops with deer dew claws. Eight beaded bands alternating in blue and red with red flannel tuffs. Bottom having eight quilled drops. Upper painted with red ochre and stick drawings depicting a battle. Quilled drops ending in deer dew claws and fringe on tail. Two bullet or arrow holes going in one side and out the other that have been patched with red flannel. Acquired by a collector at a Montana trading post. Est. Mid 20th Century. 54”H x 68”L including tail.
