About the Item

Highly decorated Nez Perce saddle throw on brain tanned elk hide. 50” plus 30” fringe, both ends. Heavy bull hide. Similar, but not matching, 12" beaded panels on each side. Second time around. 24" war shirt bead strip. Decorated with tin cones and horse hair on centre panel, backed with flour sacking. Work periods 19th century through mid-20th century. Directly off the reservation. As showy as they come.     Fine quality hand painted porcelain humidor is in excellent all original condition with no chips, repairs, or overpaint; nice bright crisp paint and detail. No mark, but definitely American, circa 1900 era. Note the detail to the Indian's face and his elaborate headdress. Native American Indians were especially attracted to tobacco and related products and relished the opportunity to pose for pictures on that topic; note cigar store "Indians", match safes, and humidors.
