Psychedelic 60s Counter Culture Collage Packing Crate

About the Item

Growing up as a teenager in Rockland County, New York, approximately 45 minutes northwest of New York City, the previous owner just felt a need to decorate this everyday object. She has no recollection of why she started decorating this piece, but this is art for art's sake. The packing container, which normally houses folded clothing or carefully wrapped porcelain or glass, was carefully decorated with text from print ads from newspapers, magazines and comic strips. Many of the terms and phrases we might have taken for granted over the years were up front and center in the Counter Culture era of the late 1960s. The Baby Boomers were trying to change the world. Flower Power, Haters, Snoopy for President are a few of the cut outs present. This piece has limitless uses. Good overall condition with losses, fading and some rust to the container top. Structurally sturdy. Approximately 20.5" high x 28.75" high.
