A possible identification of the folk art artist of this farmscape is Lucadie Monty, born February 17, 1851, died March 9, 1912. She was the wife of John Monty (1837-1891), a farmer. According to the 1880 United States Federal Census, the couple had five children ranging in age from one to thirteen years, and they resided in Bear Creek, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.
This work may depict the Monty Family Farm charmingly detailed with a cow weathervane atop a copula on the roof of the red barn, a post and barbed wire fenced farmyard with cows, sheep, horses and chickens, with the farmhouse in the distance.
