About the Item

A custom-made luxury quilt constructed from 100% pure Irish linen in soft muted tones. Artisan made in Ireland by designer-maker Katie Larmour for KL Design Ireland Studio. Handcrafted in Ireland Fits a small Queen bed or can be displayed as a sofa throw or textile wall hanging. Irish Linen, ‘the aristocrat of textiles’, a natural fibre made from the flax plant. From one of the last remaining linen mills still active in Ireland today and certified by the Irish Linen Guild. The linen has a beautiful character and charm in it’s textured surface, with visible weave and ’slubs’ (the nibbly bits). It is of the highest quality and soft to the touch. Quilted with natural bamboo and cotton wadding and finished with hand-stitched binding, it’s all composed of natural fibres and simply divine. The neutral color palette consists of Classic pristine white and traditional oatmeal. The oatmeal being the natural shade of the undyed raw flax plant on the weft intertwined with white on the warp, resulting in a beautiful mottled effect, and a signature of Kl Design Ireland. It is reversible with the same dramatic two-tone back, half white and half oatmeal (or you can request a plain back of one color and choice of rim also). The rim is also oatmeal. Abstract modernist shapes exquisitely combined with traditional patchwork piecing technique. The Minimalist design of geometric colour blocks, clean lines, harmony and proportion. Inspired by Ireland’s rich tapestry of farmland and translated into a piece of art. The overall quilting pattern is a stylised clam shell reminiscent of the Art Deco period’s elegant ‘fountain’ motif. The subtle curves blending the fragments together. KL Design Ireland recently exhibited at ‘A Year of Irish Design 2015’ and ’New York Design Week 2016’, is a member of the Crafts and Design Council of Ireland and the British European Design Group.
