Rustic Vintage Ethnic Dhaka Pattern Purple Throw Rug from Nepal
Located in Belfast, Northern Ireland
Beautiful vintage ethnic heavyweight cloth that could be used as a stunning home accessory whether thrown over a sofa or laid on the floor as a rug, perhaps even as a wall hanging admired as a piece of artistry. Dhaka is the traditional handmade fabric of the indigenous ‘Limbu’ people of Eastern Nepal, it’s origin goes back several hundred years to the Terhathum district. It is very unique and its distinctive geometric patterns make it stand out from other ethnic cloths. The Dhaka pattern is best known in the form of a topi, a cap worn by men in traditional dress and by bridegrooms at weddings and is a symbol of Nepalese heritage. Here the soft but strong natural fibres have been woven in several charming soft colors with the visible this threads displaying a captivating texture. Ever so slightly faded in patches which add to it’s history, character and charm. No damage or restoration. This would look fabulous in a Bohemian, rustic or even traditional interior. It could also be used as a very elaborate and luxurious beach accessory in the form of a towel or bathroom matt. We have two different throws as well as some wonderful Dhaka fabric cushions (pillows) backed in Irish linen that would match.
Color: Purple, fuchsia pink, blue, black, white (off-white), orange and yellow, blanket, bed runner...

Hooked Rug, American, Early 20th Century – Size: 9 ft 6 in x 11 ft 7 in (2.9 m x 3.53 m)
This sophisticated vintage American rug features a handsome allover pattern that incorporates a rich variety of monochromatic and variegated stripes arranged in staggered rows. The polychromatic field is further divided into a triad of distinct compartments that create a graphic stripe-within-a-stripe pattern. Each narrow segmented stripe is set against a variety of contrasting colors that create a harmonious low-key pattern comprised of varied hues. The motley assortment of bold colors creates a tonal blend that is superseded by the dark hues and enlivened by the vibrant accent colors. Reminiscent of piled books...
