Vintage Cast Iron "Uncle Sam" Toy Bank Mechanical Coin Bank with Americana Eagle Umbrella Piggy Bank Box. Uncle Sam Cast Iron Mechanical Bank Mid-20th Century Taiwan Reproduction of The Late 19th Century Political Satire on US Taxes. This is a North American bank toy, made from cast iron and then hand painted. This is a not working toy money box, usually where a coin is placed in the open hand of Uncle Sam and pressing the lever down it operates the linkage mechanism inside, the hand drops, the red money bag marked U.S. opens and the coin drops in the bag and through to the collection box under the bag. Uncle Sam's beard also moves, as if saying "Thank you". Such early Cast Iron novelty toys such as these were very collectible. This one is missing the metal top that will make all the movement and missing the bottom part to close and open the bank. Reproduction Made in Taiwan circa 1950s. Dimensions: Height: 11.5 in Width: 5 in Depth: 4 in. Decorative Americana Folk Art collectible toy bank great to use on a shelf or desk.
