Salampasu Ritual Wood Boat with Four Masked Figure & Attendants Congo
About the Item
A very rare assemblage carved wood sculpture of a boat with a row of standing figures, the second wears the classic mask of the Salampasu people, of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Figures are attached with pins to the bottom of the boat. Custom metal stand. Figures are dancing or moving in rhythm simulating part of a special ceremony.
Measures: On base 10 3/4 inches high and 29 inches long.
