About the Item

Black & Milk chandelier by Voss, 1940s - Extremely attractive and very rare intact Art Deco chandelier from the 1940s, in good vintage condition! This elegant chandelier is comprised of three milky white glass shades with cone shaped black metal tops, suspended by polished brass arms, which ends in a curvy center base, made of brass and black wood and polished brass pieces. From the center base, a polished brass arm raises straight up to end in a black metal canopy toward the ceiling. The milk glass shades are decorated with beautiful pattern of fine translucent lines, and are open towards the bottom. When lit, they become uniformly lit and resembles three huge light bulbs, while the shine brass captures the reflection of light. The open bottom combined with the slightly tilted position of the glass shades, ensures a good flow of sideways and downward directed light. Stunning - and a gorgeous addition to any home! The matte black, the warm brass and the milk glass just oozes 1940s Art Deco. This piece is in good vintage condition, no chips or cracks in the glass, few signs of usage and age on the brass parts, some signs on the black metal and there is a small crack on the center base (seen in photo 10). Please see the photos! All original, but rewired with 30 cm (11.8") new white plastic cord and fitted with safety clamps for easy connection to existing wiring. Tested and fully functional. Cleaned, polished, labeled and packed in protective bag. Light source: Three bulbs, Edison screw-fittings (E27/E26) Max 60 Watt each.
