About the Item

A bejeweled masterpiece of design and craftsmanship, the ‘Bride’ Chandelier trails on the ground its stylish train of brass and copper flowers. 'I like the idea of a piece which challenges the space and conventions. For me, beauty is always obvious and amazing. And every creation is a one-of-a-kind ‘rendez-vous’.' This exquisite lyrical chandelier wears a guipure costume made of copper and brass droplike flowers in the expression of a style which is both poetic and structured, flamboyant and balanced. Each of the flowers was sculpted one by one. Faux ingénue, the ‘Bride’metal guipure gown unfurls at a wild pace, linking the brass and copper finishings. Some flowers have a polished, mirrored effect obtained from galvanization. Others were brushed or distressed with a hammer. Some were given a pink or blue effect using fire. These different finishings make the piece even more lyrical. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris (ENSAD), jewelry designer Taher Chemirik has collaborated with some of the world’s most prestigious fashion labels, including Chloé, Hermès, Balenciaga, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Roger Vivier. He was named by Time one of the world’s most influential designers in 2007 for his jewelry signature designs using oversized links, drop-like petals, and ebony wood. Three of his pieces are included in the permanent collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. 'In my jewelry, I use fine stones, gold, and silver, but also wood, coral, and hard stones. I like to mix materials in my furniture as well, in particular ones that defy time and are in line with the tradition of the decorative arts – brass, wood, and hard stones.' With the 'Interior Treasures' ('Bijoux d'Intérieur') furniture collection exclusively produced and sold by Galerie BSL, Taher Chemirik reveals the entire extent of his talent, that identifies him as a poet and architect of the object. Each piece is unique, hand-made in Paris in fine and timeless materials, such as brass, copper and rare hard stones. His works have the beauty of a contemporary sculpture, dense as well as sensual, refined and dramatic. Their strong presence vouches for the panache of an artist who expresses himself in volume, in tune with the scale of jewelry as well as with pieces with larger dimensions. 'The Bride' is a signed, unique piece.
