About the Item

Chandelier by Bent Karlby for Lyfa in the early 1940s - attractive and very charming Danish modern opal glass and brass pendant lighting in good vintage condition. A very stylish chandelier with three circular double-layered glass shades. The glass shades rests on a brass base featuring the signature Karlby decorative rim, echoed on the brass lids on top. The shades are titled away from center by curvy brass arms, extended from a small egg-shaped center. The center features a short brass pipe to guide the cord upwards and ensure alignment when hung. The opal glass shades are designed to provide a uniformly lit surface, while ensuring a soft comfortable light. When lit, the brass becomes golden and glows and the glass shades spreads the emitted light in every direction. A captivating early Danish Mid-Century Modern piece with beautiful subtle details - fit for many purposes - like being a gorgeous chandelier in a hallway or being an impressive light in the living room. And it is in good vintage condition with few normal signs of usage and age - no chips or cracks in the shades. Some small superficial marks on the shades and age-related signs on the brass parts. Please see the photos! All original, but rewired with 1,20 m (3' 11.2") high end quality, white fabric cord - for safety and beauty. Tested and fully functional. Cleaned, labeled and packed in protective plastic cover. Light source: Three bulbs, Edison screw-fittings (E27/E26) Max 60 Watt each.
