Magnificent brass and mother-of-pearl chandelier circa 1960 attributed to Verner Panton, pendant chandeliers, some mother-of-pearl have signs of wear and tear but overall it remains an impressive piece of decoration and design Verner Panton (1926-1998) was a renowned Danish designer, renowned for his innovative contribution to furniture and interior design, as well as his unique and colorful aesthetic. He played a major role in the development of design in the middle of the 20th century, particularly in the 1960s and 1970s. Panton is famous for its iconic furniture, including the Panton chair, created in 1960. This chair was the first to be made from a single piece of molded plastic, with its fluid, organic form becoming a symbol of the Pop Art movement and of the space age. Bold and vibrant use of color was a hallmark of Panton. He believed in the deep emotional impact of color on people and incorporated it into his designs, producing striking color combinations and patterns. Panton also designed lighting fixtures, such as the "Panton Fun" lamp, made from cascading mother-of-pearl discs, creating a stunning visual effect when lit. He was a pioneer in the use of new materials and technologies, exploring plastics, fiberglass and other innovative materials. In addition to his furniture and lighting, he created complete interior spaces, including the famous "Visiona" project in 1970, futuristic and immersive environments. Verner Panton's legacy lives on, with his designs remaining highly prized by collectors and enthusiasts of modern design.
