Cord Sconce 24" White & Brass by Ravenhill Studio
About the Item
The cord family is a celebration of form driven by physics. The series began as an exercise to simplify Jean Prouvé’s Classic Potence lamp by using the fixture's electrical cord in place of the guy wire. The result is a pleasing symmetry between the structural members. The family utilizes the principle of tensegrity, or floating compression, where the compression of the steel arm resists the tension of the cloth electrical cord to hold the custom ceramic socket aloft.
The cord sconce shows off just how simple and dramatic lighting can be. A pivoting arm is held in place by the tension of a cloth-covered electrical cord, which also discreetly hides the mounting screws. The ceramic hub is custom cast in Los Angeles and houses the lamp’s electrical components. Perfect above a bedside table or beside a couch, the Cord Sconce stores flat against the wall and can be swung out to provide light where and when you need it.
Black & Brass, Black, and White & Brass (Shown) finishes available.
Available in hardwired or plug-in versions, and 24” and 36” lengths.
The Cord Family also includes a Pendant, Chandelier, Long Chandelier, and Double Chandelier.
