Early 20th Century French Bronze Chandelier
About the Item
This early 20th century French bronze chandelier features female heads liking to the caryatides of the Acropolis. Each of the four heads at the top of the chandelier preside over eight beautifully hand cast and chased arms featuring bell flowers and a provincial quatrefoil. Each of the bobesche feature egg, scrolled and beaded details. The arms are supported by intricate cast acanthus leaves that lead to another female caryatide head trailing into a bell flower leading to a bottom ribbed half melon shape. Finally, a hand cast finial with acanthus leaf tips finishes off this beautiful chandelier. At the top of the chandelier, an intricately cast finial leads to two links of hand cast and chased links of chain. The chandelier retains its original slip canopy. In addition to the overall height of the chandelier there is approximately 18 of chain and canopy, including the two decorative links of chain. There are 8 custom handmade smocked silk shades.
