About the Item

EKKO pendant by Louis Weisdorf for LYFA in 1968 - extremely attractive rare brown and orange hanging light in very good vintage condition. Five thin lacquered metal pieces, angular shaped to fit perfect on top off each other, and together they form a tall cylinder-like shape. The visually simple form hides a complex structure underneath the hood, as each of the metal pieces are both triangular and square shaped, which creates an absolutely amazing light when lit - the light is guided out between the pieces, making it appear as a glowing light sculpture. The EKKO was designed in 1968 and put into by production by Lyfa. It was introduced in two color combinations; blue/purple and brown/orange. This is the brown/orange version and it oozes a soft warm illumination - the light escapes out between the metal pieces at their triangular shaped sides, casting light on the surrounding piece and makes the brown and orange glow. The cylinder-like shape completely conceals the bulb, creating a glare-free experience - a key pillar of Weisdorf's ideas on good lighting design. The EKKO is a fine example of his unique sense of form, function and aesthetics. An ingenious light that stirs the imagination and captivates your attention with its sculptural beauty. An exceptional vintage addition to any space - hanging over a setting area or in a kitchen over a smaller kitchen table. It would also look absolutely amazing hung in a hallway, or in a corner to accent your favorite area. Endless uses in the modern home! A gorgeous and must have piece for any design collector! Condition: This rare EKKO that I have up for sale is the brown and orange version and it is in very good vintage condition with minor few signs of usage and age. Please see the photos! All original, but rewired with 2 m (6' 6.7") high end quality, white fabric cord - for safety and beauty. Tested and fully functional. Cleaned, labelled and packed in protective bag.
