Floral Opaline Glass and Gilt Bronze Chandelier
About the Item
Beautiful flowers are the recurring motifs in the decoration of this wonderful antique chandelier, dating from the years, circa 1840. The most impressive features of the piece are the intricately-painted floral bouquets which adorn the opaline glass base of the chandelier, and which, when illuminated, will add vitality and vivid colour to a room.
The opaline glass bowl at the base of the piece has eight scrolling gilt bronze lights issuing from it, each of which is finely-cast with further floral motifs. The whole piece is supported by four ormolu chains, which join just below the ceiling fitment. The top plate which joins the chains features a crown-like ormolu gallery, decorated with masks.
