French 19th Century Louis XV St. Ormolu Chandelier
About the Item
A stunning and large scale French 19th century Louis XV st. Ormolu chandelier. This eighteen arm eighteen light chandelier is centered by a berried foliate pendant below a spray of acanthus leaves. Each scrolled arm is decorated by draping acanthus leaves, reeded patterns with a foliate central reserve, and additional central reserve of an urn of prosperity. Each fluted candle cup is placed atop a circular bobeche with a laurel vine edge. Surrounding the mottled central fut is an array of Ormolu ropes leading to the top crown with a berried laurel vine central reserve. The top crown displays an inverted crown shape with fluted designs below a fluted Ormolu top cap.
