French Art Deco Cut Glass Brass Three-Light Chaptel Lantern 1910s
About the Item
One of kind hand blown clear cut glass chapel lantern with a central three-bulb candelabra cluster and elegant brass mounts, France, 1910-1920. The glass bowl and upper glass plate complete with hand-cut palm, other vegetal and geometric motifs surrounding a dome topped by a holy cross on a globe and the inscription "P. II", certainly for the endowment of a high cleric. All the cut decoration is repeated twice on the two hemispheres of the glass bowl - please see pictures for the beautiful details. This wonderful lantern comes from the chapel of a manor house in southern France.
It takes 3 Edison E-14 candelabra screw bulbs. This piece is in very good vintage condition, rewired
Actual height: 32" / 81 cm, adjustable height via shortening the three connecting chains or by adding chain links.
