Globe pendant light, Temde, Switzerland, 1970's

About the Item

This large plastic sphere mounted on a curved teak plywood ring recalls the glory days of the Space Age era. The globe can easily be moved on its horizontal axis to direct the direct light, otherwise opt for a softer diffusion by letting it pass through the thermoformed plastic to pleasantly illuminate the entire room. It can also be adjusted in height by choosing the length of the wire coming out of the fixing base. If the lighting fixtures of the German-Swiss brand Temde, founded in 1911 in Detmold, were initially made only of wood, it was in the 1970s that a small revolution took place when the combination of new materials such as wood, glass, plastic and metal became more and more important. This light is remarkable for its smooth and timeless line, it will easily fit anywhere.
