Truly impressive and all handcrafted, decagonal Gothic light fixture. If you like the look and feel of Medieval Style or Gothic antiques then this good size and probably one of a kind hall lantern could be flying your way soon too. With antique light fixtures as one of our specialities, we have never seen a Gothic Revival lantern with as many as ten sides and all these 10 sides are in a Gothic church window-like form/design. To make these Gothic church windows stand out even more the artist/maker has decorated/painted them with two types of patterns. We are not sure if they are hand-painted or an early form of printing, but these patterns must have been burned onto the glass in a keln, because otherwise they would have never lasted so well for this long. The combination of the decagonal Gothic design and the 10 (hand)painted Gothic window like 'panels' really makes this a work of art light fixture. The brass finials with their embossed Gothic crosses (and more) are like the icing on the cake of this antique pendant light, because they make her look truly ancient. Both the height adjustable antique brass canopy and the antique chains are replacements, but if you did not know then you probably would have never guessed. This lantern has also been rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the USA as well and you will be able to use a regular American E26 screwthread bulb of up to 100 watts, easily. To make a long story short, you just don't find all handcrafted fixtures of this age and beauty anymore. It may have originally hung in a monastery or church or maybe above the main entrance of a medieval style chateau/castle in France. We are not sure. What we ARE certain of is that it is highly unlikely that we or you will ever find the same pendant anywhere in the world. This lantern radiates a warm light that is second to none, but both with the light switched on and off this pendant truly is a joy to behold. Thanks to the hook inside the height adjustable brass canopy, mounting this lantern tight to your ceiling (and over your junction box) should take no more than two minutes. Mind you, our fair price for this rare lantern includes perfect packing (in a custom made box) and also free worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Current height x diameter: 32.7 x 9 inches. Height of the lantern without the chain & canopy but with the brass finials: 18.5 inches. Height of the mint Gothic glass shade alone: 11.8 inches. Diameter of the height adjustable antique brass canopy: 4.33 inches. Thanks to the chains, we (or you) can easily adjust the height, if you so desire.
