Hans Bergström Attributed Five Arm Chandelier, Brass and Oak, ASEA Sweden, 1950s

About the Item

This elegant five arm chandelier was produced by ASEA in Sweden in the 1950s. The lamp consists of a brass stem, a carved oak centerpiece to which the five arms are attached. The decorative brass leaves attached to the stem and the five sculpted and ribbed brass arms are characteristic for the work of Hans Bergström. The decorative brass finial detail below the wood central element and the beautiful brass canopy with relief details complete the design. The slightly tapered fabric shades have been renewed in a matt ivory fabric. A very striking and elegant example of Swedish Modern lighting. The lamp is in very good original condition, the brass with a natural patina. The chandelier uses 5 bulbs with a regular E26/27 fitting, recommended maximum wattage per bulb is 40W or the equivalent in LED. Other iconic Scandinavian modern designers known for their lighting pieces include Arne Jacobsen, Paavo Tynell and Hans Agne Jakobsson
