Our Beam Pendant is our take on the classic typology of shop lamps, using strips of high efficiency LEDs instead of old school (and inefficient) fluorescent tubes. The Oak Beam Pendant uses a strict material palette of extruded aluminum and plywood. We join and shape these materials into a fixture with angled sides and rounded ends that imply movement and directionality, not simply an elongated rectangle, but a bold graphic line floating in space. The Church Family was first created to illuminate California Modernist Rudolph Schindler's Bethlehem Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Schindler called his work “Space Architecture,” meaning he designed not just for structure but also the climate, light and mood of an interior space. Inspired by this thinking our Church fixtures are designed to cast light not down but up and out, with globe bulbs exposed and celebrated. Suspended by cloth-covered electrical cords, this tensegrity structure can be hung to align dramatically with existing architecture. The Church four-arm pendant is anchored by an octagonal center block, which connects the angled steel arms to create a plus-sign silhouette from below.
