Italian Handblown Globe with Cased Glass Interior
About the Item
This is a very special pendant chandelier. This 13" globe is entirely handblown and unique. The interior is a genuine cased glass canister with the hole drilled through the pontil mark, with remnants of the pontil mark still visible and is not mass produced like other cased glass cylinders. The sphere is a genuine Murano glass handblown orb that displays true imperfections in the handblown process resulting in some light distortion with air bubbles in the orb. Note that the interior cylinder is perfectly straight but the orb distorts the appearance. The orb is also cut at the bottom to allow the cased glass shade to be inserted and this cut area creates a halo of light. The light that is put out by this piece is quite spectacular and the porcelain socket is rated for up to 200 watts. It inspires a galaxy theme through the refraction of the bubbles. The ceiling plate is vintage but not original. Attributed to Venini as the only company we know of capable of producing such a piece. This lamp has a drop of 43" which is of course adjustable. There are no chips to the glass but there are some light scratches visible upon close inspection only. We recommend professional installation only.

Exquisite ribbons of reds and orange color run through the vase and reminds one of the Charisma Series for Blenko. This urn vase has a purposeful bulge on the bottom where the signature is, and this is where the handcrafted Stand comes in with its hole below allowing the glass bulge to enter, thus it prevents the glass from tipping over. The Stand is custom-made by Freeman for the vase from wood and is likely mahogany. A very unique piece from the artist.
