Large beautiful Gasolier bronze & Rock Crystal French chandelier with 36 light
About the Item
Large beautiful regency Gasolier made from gilt bronze and Rock Crystal. Originally made in France with 36 lights. Arranged in 8 double pairs of lights each held by an angel with rock crystal drops below. 4 outward splayed lamps in the old gas arms with rock crystal dishes and large rock crystal bulb surrounds. These arms are arranged in two sets one longer than the other each with square pipes emitting from the mouths of lions. The entire design is of a basket style of rock crystal buttons dropping from an upper crown with acanthus leaves each finished with rock crystal twisted olives and large half pear drops. The buttons drop to a waist band in black and gilt below which further buttons are all gathered to a central point from which a central terminal rock crystal ball hangs. All lit internally by a total of 4 crown bulbs and at the waist a further 8 upward and 12 downward pointing bulbs. A total of 36 bulbs. The waist band has further gilt bronze swags surrounding the central band all beautifully restored and rewired to modern day standards.
