Large Maison Bagues Silver Gilt Bronze Rock Crystal Flower Bouquet Chandelier
About the Item
An absolutely magnificent, rare, 20-light, silver-gilded bronze, rock crystal chandelier with impeccable balance and great scale. A birdcage design with an encased flower bouquet, the center column is a crystal beaded Amphora jar shape that holds delicate metal stems that sprout sculptural flowers made of layers of crystals, metal backed crystal leaves, and dangling smoke crystals. Made in France in the early 1930s, with the highest quality European clear lead crystals and rock crystals; in smooth flat-backed, and faceted almonds, beads, cut prisms, leaves, and flower shapes. It has 15-arm candle lights, and 5 up-lights on inner structure. The five up lights point towards the inner bouquet and are encased in metal, leaf shaped shades. A large, rock crystal ball finial hangs from the center of an antique mirror disk at the bottom of the body. The top is crowned with a beaded crystal sleeve and decorative metal canopy.
