About the Item

Impressive large Italian Cielo sputnik chandeliers are sold separately but can be sold as a pair. Discs consist of a matte white finish, and are made of Murano glass on a brass frame and brass discs that hold the Murano glass. The Murano glass can be removed for easier shipping. The chandelier has a central sphere that holds brass rods that alternate short and long and hold flattened Murano glass spheres or brass discs. There is a total of 18 lights per chandelier. Chandelier measures: 38" diameter and 74" total height "More than seven centuries later, true Murano glass remains rarefied, at least in name. the process of making Murano glass is different from any others. It requires a special glassblowing process that is over 1000 years old. Rediscovered by local artisans who found the remains of ancient Roman glassware at the end of the first millennium, they continuously developed and enhanced the technique which has been relied upon ever since.
