About the Item

Limburg glass ball pendant, Murano glass ball on a solid brass pendant rod, 1970`s ca, German. This vintage pendant light has been gently cleaned while respecting the aged patina. It is newly rewired, earthed & ready to install. It is possible to install this chandelier in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity. It can be used with a dimmer. This Modernist pendant is futuristic but elegant with the polished brass details & Murano glass shade. The result is a clean, minimal, but warm & textured look. This glass pendant would be a smart sculptural addition for an entrance, corridor or large room. It would complement a range of interiors such as Art Deco, Modern, Hollywood Regency, Pop, 70`s Glamour, Industrial or Contemporary, The eye is drawn to the huge Murano glass ball, which is in clear glass with a spiral streak of milky glass. Typical of Artisan glass, there are bubbles and variations in the composition of this glass. Inside the ball there is the brass frame which adds to the depth & reflections. Structurally the central tubular pendant rod is in solid polished brass, and has two portions screwed together. The lower portion goes in the glass ball and has at the bottom 4 lamp holders facing upwards. These lamp holders are covered with polished gold tone covers. At the bottom of the lamp holders there is a polished brass plate and a decorative finial finishing the composition. In the middle of the pendant rod there is a round plate with 4 rubbers stoppers on which the glass ball safely sits. It is here where also the pendant rod attaches to the upper portion of the rod. This portion is decorated with an inverted cone shape segment in brass. A polished brass round cover slides down over the hole on the ball & the holding plate. This cover is fitted by a ring with a screw to the rod. The upper pendant rod is finished at the top with a polished brass ceiling cup. Inside there is a hook to hang the pendant. It would be possible to shorten or lengthen the pendant rod if necessary. Carries 4 standard large screw E27 light bulbs up to 60 Watts each. Photographed and presently fitted with Candle clear 25 Watt light bulbs which are included in this price. It is possible to use other E27 light bulb shapes for a different look. This chandelier is in very good condition. There is a warm patina on the brass in line with age. The glass ball is in very good condition with no chips. The glass has texture & imperfections as part of its handmade manufacture as well as a few surface scratches in line with age. The original `Limburg` maker`s label is on the underside of the brass cover. Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. For safe transport, the glass ball will be removed and wrapped in a layer of paper & bubble wrap. The frame would be wrapped in bubble wrap & soft card. Together these parts would easily fit into a box ideal for safe posting & shipping. Additional dimensions: The glass ball alone has a diameter of 45 cm. Wear consistent with age and use. There is a warm patination on the brass in line with age. The glass ball is in very good condition with no chips, it has texture & imperfections as part of its handmade manufacture composition as well as a few tiny light surface scratches.
