Orange Glass Pendant by Massimo Vignelli for Venini

About the Item

Hand blown Italian Murano glass pendant no. 011.11 designed by Massimo Vignelli and executed by Murano glass specialist Venini. Original example with brass hardware, circa 1955. Great typical 1950s orange color. Since 1921, Venini has transformed precious silica sand into molten glass, which is then blown and crafted by hand, reflecting the perfect balance between traditional techniques and contemporary art and design. Precious Made in Murano creations that stem from centuries of skill and knowledge. Countless artists have collaborated with VENINI, past and present; they’ve come from all over the planet to meet the mysterious charm of the Fornace (kiln). Each encounter gives life to a cross-contamination between artisanship, Murano’s glassmaking heritage, avant-garde design and the purest form of creativity.

Large pendant by Italian designer Matteo Thun for Zumtobel lightning. The spherical pendant luminaires provide an ideal lighting effect due to their partly transparent luminaire unit with reflective chrome coating and opal glass globe inside. Besides directly emitted light, light is reflected inside the luminaire unit, making it seem to float. Light defines the emotional impact of a room. That is exactly why so many public places such as hotel lobbies and restaurants and even residential living spaces combine functional lighting with a clear element of decorative light.
