About the Item

Pair of 1960s Murano glass chandelier by Mazzega, with each 127 textured pendants in five distinct colors and two height sizes: white, light yellow, light amber, amber and dark amber tone. The number of colors pendant differs somewhat for both chandelier, so there are not 100% identical, some may have more pendants of a similar colour than the other. Dimensions: 20.86 in / 53 cm H Diameter 18.11 in. / 46 cm Four standard size bulbs, each up to 100 watts. Toni Zuccheri (1936-2008) is one of the greatest Italian lamp designer. He is very famous for his work made of Verano glass from the 60s to the 80s. After studying architecture in Venice, Zuccheri starts working for Venini where he collaborates with Gio Ponti. He creates then his own designs especially with geometrical glass structures. Zuccheri spends most of his time at Venini, but he also works for different famous manufacturers. With the 1960s came the accentuated use of glass elements and vintage Italian lights manufacturing companies like Venini and Mazzega had a strong influence on the modernization of lighting design during the 1960s Mid-Century Modern. Influenced by the craze for the use of raw material, lights incorporated elements of modernist design which let the material and colours speak for themselves, a trend which would be soon followed by the like of Orrefors, Kalmar and Limburg. This light is perfectly suited for large dining tables with chairs or over a coffee table and sofa but also over an office desk, bar or bed.
