Rare Arts & Crafts Round Shape Entrance Hall Lantern Pendant by Jan Eisenloeffel

About the Item

Rare and stylish and all-handcrafted Dutch Arts & Crafts entry hall pendant light / lantern. If you are looking for the best and the rarest when it comes to European Arts and Crafts antiques then this extremely rare hallway or entry hall pendant could be yours to own and enjoy soon. This avantgardist lantern is designed and executed by Jan Eisenloeffel around 1903 and was exhibited in the Danish Arts and Crafts museum in Copenhagen in 1904 from May until July. This famous Dutch designer created/designed some of the most amazing pieces that were then hand-crafted by the best artisans in the country. The marvelous brass with the typical Eisenloeffel style elements and the rivots that connect all seperate and top quality made parts are like the 'silent signature' of Jan Eisenloeffel. That combined with the simple fact that he had no contemporaries that used the same techniques and materials nor did anyone else at that time create designs with this level of style and aesthetic beauty. Mind you, this now modernist and timeless design, back in 1903 was like a leap into the future. Nothing in the design world would have had these strong and straight lines and the first people to own this Arts and Crafts lantern too would be ahead of their time and true innovators. For that reason too this unique pendant is extremely special and we certainly dare to state that it therefor also is historically important. We saw that one of the special glass panels is glued (picture 11), but that is hardly noticeable. The replaced canopy is a perfectly matching one and there looks to be a minor change where the chain meets the top of this pendant, but otherwise this antique is as good as they come. We are very happy to found this unique lantern still with the original cathedral glass panels. So if you are looking for a truly unique and great looking pendant to grace your hallway or landing then this early 1900s, Dutch Arts and Crafts pendant could be perfect for you. The brass or yellow copper -as we sometimes call it- frame with the wonderfully subtle style elements is beautifully crafted and in very good condition as well. Thanks to its design and thanks to the striking glass panels this stunning pendant radiates a warm and atmospheric light and it also projects a marvelous geometric pattern on your celing and walls. This unique, stylish and timeless light fixture will never fail to impress you or anyone visiting, because this is the most amazing quality workmanship that money can buy. Mind you, this one of a kind ceiling lamp is rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the USA as well and it will easily take a 120 watt bulb. Our fair price even includes perfect packing and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Maximum height x diameter: 35 x 7.8 inches. Height without the chain and canopy of this unique lantern: 17 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).
